LA
The first Editors' Lounge of 2012 will be
on Friday, January 27, at the AlphaDogs studio
and eyeon has been invited to present. The

is heading to a venue near you!
The

held our first event in Los Angeles and thank

Uncharted Terriroty, showed how they

Annual VES Awards

 A Sneak Peek Into
Ra.One
Ra.One is the Indian version of
Ironman and the first feature film from
Shah Rukh Khan's entertainment production
company, redchillies.vfx.
The focus of the film is to shake up
viewers across the world utilizing some of the
world's latest CG advancements. The
challenges included the grand scale of the
project, working with multiple studios both
locally and globally, the complexity of the
3,500+ shots amounting to about 2 hours and 15
minutes, syncing the entire production pipeline,
keeping tab of the progress, and quality
control.

 Drazen Z: Music
Man
Drazen
Zeljkovic lives in the Croatian capital of
Zagreb. He is a compositing/motion graphics
freelance artist. eyeon spoke to him
about his work, his passions, and his latest
project, Prljavo kazaliste - Iza mojih
prozora.
"Music videos are not really high budget
projects so there was no budget to hire any 3D
artists to help make 3D buildings and real 3D
stuff. The deadline was short as
well!
As the only artist working on the
project, I decided to take it all into Fusion
and stylize all the backgrounds, make some
camera projections, and take advantage of
Fusion's great 3D space."

 Artist Interview:
Michael Wolf
"I
don't see myself as an artist in the traditional
sense. My background is in computers and this
knowledge is coupled with an avid interest in
film, visual language, and design. I guess that
automatically leads to vfx, doesn't
it?
I
started with a focus in 3D and then extended
that to video editing and finally compositing.
Due to the small nature of the studio back then,
I worked in just about every role; from being my
own rotoscoping slave to producing videos. My
tasks included 3D animation, software
development (both in-house tools and interactive
authoring), editing, and supervision. I suppose,
in this neck of the woods, this is a fairly
common career for a generalist."

This
series of tutorials is currently a
work-in-progress as Stefan creates
step-by-step videos of Fusion techniques.
The
finished product will soon be available but you
can pick any step to start and use the footage
to experiment on your own. All footage is
available for download on Stefan's website or
can be re-created by the comps he has
provided.
